A one or two day, intensive media training workshop. Whether you have a product to promote or a position to defend, we'll provide you with the coaching to ensure that your image is enhanced and your opportunities for on-air promotion are inoffensively exploited.

Typically run for up to 8 participants, the content and training can be targeted to include any combination of television, radio and press interviews. Non-intimidating, lots of fun and entirely relevant, the dynamic coaching structure allows us to mould our training to suit the specific needs and pace of the group. As such, we can simultaneously challenge - and expand the confidence of - both experienced and inexperienced interviewees.

The result: you'll leave armed with a powerful new set of media handling tools and, more importantly, a massive boost to both your confidence and competency when facing journalists and presenters.

typical highlights...

  • Almost 100% practical giving you the maximum opportunity to learn through experience - participants spend the majority of their time involved in either direct coaching, or contributing to and learning from, the experience of the other members of the group
  • Practical interviews are meaningful, relevant and real-life using background information on your business, organisation or role. Depending on your requirements, you'll experience a number of interview scenarios - from one-plus-one to "down-the-line"... surprise "doorstep" interviews to a simulated press conference
  • You'll encounter a wide variety of interviewing styles, from the softly-softly to the confrontational
  • What you need to know from your inquisitor before your interview - and how you can turn this information to your advantage
  • Be your own spin doctor - discover the techniques used by the professionals and learn how to apply them to your own media handling policies
  • How to prepare for your interview - and how to focus in on your message when you're collared "out of the blue"
  • Banish the nerves for good - common-sense strategies for ridding yourself of the needless fears that often accompany an interview. And all without the use of the likes of gimmicky breathing exercises and mumbo-jumbo self-talk
  • You'll master the art of the "sound-bite", enabling you to get your point across succintly, smoothly and powerfully
  • Understand journalist etiquette - from "on the record" to "non-attributable"
  • We'll explain the common tactics employed by interviewers to trip you up - and how to spot them and come out on top
  • The dynamics of radio and telephone interviews - useful techniques to maximise your impact
  • You'll learn how it's typically not what you say but how you say it that leaves the biggest impression
  • A multitude of tips and tricks - from make-up advice for both sexes, to a sure-fire way for ensuring you won't be misquoted...
  • Technical aspects are covered: from floor manager hand signals to the effective use of studio monitors... the dynamics of a single camera location interview to working with an earpiece during a “down-the-line”
  • What to wear - the most effective combinations for on-screen impact
  • There’s constant review and playback of recorded interviews, enabling constructive criticism and on-the-spot corrections
  • Each participant receives a video-tape of their work, providing a useful reminder of their strengths and weaknesses and vividly illustrating their growth throughout the training
