Technology Use Up Since "9/11"
20 September 2002
Use of all types of conferencing technology - Web, video and voice
- has gone up in the year since the September 11, 2001, terrorist
attacks, according to a recent survey of more than 700 business
travelers by Wainhouse Research (and sponsored by Polycom Inc.).
The
survey shows that use of Web conferencing services has increased
by 61.5 percent, videoconferencing is up by 24.5 percent and voice-conferencing
is up by 11.7 percent.
The same surveyed group reported that their total number of in-person
meetings in the same period decreased by an average of 16.3 percent,
accounting for about 45 percent of their meetings. More information
on the survey can be found on Polycom's site, http://www.polycom.com.
