Business TV Presenter Training

Business TV - Case Studies

We've taken on a variety of business television-related projects. Here's a few from our files:

CD-ROM Success

  • Our client, a FTSE 100 global telecommunications business, was producing a Video CD for distribution company-wide, highlighting some key messages at a difficult time for the organisation. The managing director and group business heads were earmarked to communicate some of this information but, whilst public speaking was a daily occurrence, found presenting to camera difficult. Their confidence was further knocked by a previous attempt that met with a lukewarm reception. After a group of senior managers attended one of our television presenter courses, our services were recommended to the board resulting in a two day course - split into half day sessions for 3 people at a time - for the 12 faces appearing on the video. The video was a huge success, with particular praise for the "warm and natural" presenting styles of the team - especially when delivering fairly complex information - attracting respect from all levels of staff in the business.

Web TV

  • With improving streaming media technology and easier access to higher bandwidths, our client - a prominent lawyer - was invited to present a series of lectures via Internet broadcast to fellow lawyers throughout the UK. By his own admission, early attempts lacked the warmth and viewer connection he sought and he came to us for help. After just a two hour session with Glenn Kinsey his presentations were transformed overnight - the difference was dramatic and, more importantly, he continued to maintain this level of convincing delivery throughout the rest of his lectures, further raising his profile amongst his peers.

Live via Satellite...

  • Our client - the Chairman of a £3 billion turnover FTSE 100 group specialising in aerospace equipment manufacture - was due to deliver a presentation to an audience of over 300 employees at a company conference in the United States. What was different about this event was the fact that he'd be delivering it live, via satellite, from a London studio - starting with a 20 minute presentation using an on-camera Autocue teleprompting system, before taking questions from the audience across the Atlantic and exchanging impromptu banter with the MC at the Stateside conference. A busy man and a novice Autocue reader, we were allocated just 60 minutes prior to the presentation to familiarise him with the setup, run through his script, drill him in the etiquette of a satellite link-up and coach him in the art of using a prompting system whilst making it appear like he wasn't using one! We completed our task with just over a minute to go before the link-up went live and our client delivered a flawless presentation. Delighted with the results, this became the first of several such presentations, ultimately saving the company money by allowing this busy executive to maximise the use of his time.

Updating the Mechanics

  • After several years spent delivering monthly audio-tape company updates to its 3,600 mobile patrol mechanics, this leading motoring organisation was experimenting with video. The female staff member tasked with fronting this "newsletter" was concerned about the "gravitas" of her on-screen performance, particularly since her audience would be predominantly male. During a day's coaching, we worked hard to boost both her skills and her confidence, resulting in excellent feedback from her viewers and a successful roll-out of this new method of communication throughout the company.

Making the Numbers Add Up

  • Our client - a UK-based, high-end accountancy software company with offices in 13 countries - was producing a video to educate its customers worldwide about a new "add-on" to its most popular piece of software. Aimed at computer administrators and software deployment specialists, this was a complex task, given the particularly sophisticated nature of their product. In-house "techies" were given the job of presenting the video and we helped transform their "straight-faced, lacklustre" delivery into something more viewer-friendly as well as completely re-writing their script for greater clarity. The video was deemed to be such a success that all customers - not just those who were purchasing this new addition to their software - received the tape, resulting in over £1 million of unexpected orders, directly attributable to the presentation. Subsequently, all their on-screen presenters received training from us.
